Taking a close-up look at the intricate process of hair and wig production in Vietnam
I had an opportunity to accompany Mia, my African-American client to Bac Ninh province to see hair factories with different types of products. She was excited to be able to see the hair in-person, to feel the quality of the laces, wefts, .... From different kinds of raw hair / virgin hair/ single donor hair/..., she was able to choose those that suit her needs and even bring some of them straight to South Africa!
The factory people don't speak much English so communication was a barrier. Communication with manufacturers in Vietnam, in general, is still not as easy. Not only the language barrier, the cultural difference and ways to conduct business can also be a hindsight for those who never had experience dealing with Vietnamese vendors. However, once things get moving, you'll get the top-quality products for a super reasonable price with an incredible lead time/production time.
I was very happy to see that the trip turned out to be a success. Mia was able to build long-term relationships with different vendors, which allows her a reliable, affordable source of hair for her clients back home.
